Beautiful vintage transferware dish featuring a detailed pastoral view of Mount Vernon, George Washington’s Virginia estate, rendered in rich purple/mulberry on white porcelain.
The historic scene depicts the estate surrounded by mature trees with figures and grazing sheep in the foreground. A delicate gold-tone rim surrounds the softly squared dish, giving it an elegant finishing touch.
The combination of purple transferware, historic American imagery and traditional form makes this a lovely display piece for a plate wall, china cabinet, bookshelf, tabletop vignette, or collection of historic transferware.
Details: Approximately 7½ x 6 inches; weight approximately 0.6 lb; porcelain/ceramic; purple/mulberry transfer decoration; gold-tone rim; softly squared shape; unmarked underside.
